Sponsored by the Princess Anne Garden Club and The Virginia Beach Garden Club
10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
“Coastal Living at the North End” is the theme for this year’s tour which features Virginia Beach’s signature neighborhood that extends from 42nd Street to 89th Street. Atlantic Avenue divides it into “Oceanside” and “landside” blocks. To the east is beachfront and to the west is the maritime forest of First Landing State Park. Parallel to Atlantic Avenue is the “feeder road” that once held railroad tracks but is now a beloved roadway for walking, running, and riding bikes. The North End is home to a lively mix of housing types – mansions, duplexes, and small beach cottages. Once it had mainly summer residents. Now, most live here year-round, attracted by an ocean-moderated climate and the outdoors.
Princess Anne Hills is a North End neighborhood, connecting to Atlantic Avenue at 58th and 62nd Streets. The hilly terrain is a continuation of First Landing’s forested sand dues while the many canals make it a boater’s paradise.
