South Hill

Originally called “South of the Hill,” South Hill is situated at the junction of the Boydton and Petersburg Plank Roads, near Virginia’s border with North Carolina.  A railroad town since 1889 and a tobacco town since the 1900s, South Hill is now a thriving regional medical center for Southside Virginia and a busy commercial center. This driving tour showcases gardens and places of interest in the Commercial Historic District listed on the National Register of Historic Places in South Hill, as well as access to the MacCallum More Museum and Gardens in nearby Chase City.
